About the museum

The museum of the Poreč territory is the heir of two previously established museums: the Regional Archeological museum of Istria, founded in 1884 and the City Museum for Arts and History, founded in 1926. The collections of both museums are incorporated in today's museum, located in the baroque palace of the Sinčić family since 1952. The Museum take care of several buildings, cultural and historical areas in Poreč and its surroundings.

The primary task of the Museum is to collect, preserve and research cultural and civilizational heritage of Poreč and the Poreč territory, their professional and scientific interpretation and presentation to the public through dedicated, scientific and other means of communication.
